Did It For The Grid - A Workshop on Cultivating Community via Instagram.

About this experience:

This experiential workshop is about being a HUMAN behind a phone connecting with other HUMANS genuinely, consciously, meaningfully and authentically. It's about cultivating community with the tool of Instagram.

This is not a social media marketing workshop filled with lingo such as 'lead-magnet', 'funnel'. 'ROI', etc. It is a workshop centred around cultivating community with emotional intelligence, awareness & sensitivity. The objective being to attract in those resonant to what you are putting out by way of service into the world. Those that will connect with you and therefore wish to remain loyal in following your journey of becoming because they align with YOU.

This workshop focuses upon building trust through genuine, authentic connection.

What to expect:

Building community online does not merely require skill and consistency...it often requires a mindset shift. We take a look inwards where our beliefs lie around building community online. Are we actually ready and willing to be seen as a brand, a personality or a personal brand or are faulty beliefs and narratives in our own way before we even begin? Do we hold the vibration of appreciation for the free marketing tool of Instagram or do we complain about it and avoid it? What's our relationship with consistency?

  • We will get clear on your strengths, your voice, your 'why' and your intended contribution to your community.

  • We will get curious about the aesthetic you're drawn to and channel that into your instantly recognisable personal brand palette.

  • We will check into the feelings evoked when varying types of content are put before us; what we tend to watch through and what we impatiently skip over.

  • We will get playful with exploring your tone of voice... showing up with an authentic, relatable brand voice over a business voice.

  • We will get a bit technical learning more about the features within Instagram that can serve us as we build our community.

Arrive prepared with:

A fully-charged phone enabled with an Instagram account to work with. We'll be using our phones A LOT!

Snacks for yourself to munch on when the need arises throughout the day.

Wear something that a) enables you to sit upon the floor in our learning space & b) you'd be happy to be photographed in (pictures taken on your own phone).

Who is this workshop for:

This workshop is not for total beginners - a sound base understanding of the platform is required. Anyone that wishes to leverage off of what is possible in the realm of building community with the aid of Instagram is most welcome.

About your facilitator:

Grace Elizabeth, founder and director of Centre or You (COY) holds great appreciation for Instagram as a resource and tool that has aided her in getting her dream-come-true start-up business baby Centre of You seen without ANY external street signage. Through consistency, authenticity, creativity and vulnerability, Grace is proud to have magnetised in a loyal, foundational, legendary community, most of whom found COY on the gram.

Things to note:

Centre of You has plenty of bolsters, blankets, and cushions for you to get cosy with. A journal is recommended as are any familiar personal items that will aid you in feeling grounded (crystal, teddy, scarf, etc).

Personal responsibility: Please make an assessment on whether you are feeling stable and resourced enough to explore the practices on offer in this event.

Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 9:45am - 10:00am. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 10:15am. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.

Driving: Centre of You is located upon Chapel Street and while you may get lucky with an untimed spot, particularly on a Sunday (try High Street) predominantly 1 and 2 hour parking is available. So you can fully settle into the practice, we suggest you avoid the need to move your car or risk a fine and park at one of the paid parking options. CARe multilevel carpark (8-14 King Street Prahran), a 140-metre walk from COY will cost $15.40 to cover the timings of this event. Alternatively, weekend early bird (in before 10am, out after 3pm) parking at CARe Park Prahran Square, 30-40 Izett St, Prahran (Coles/Safeway), a 500m walk from COY, will come in at a flat rate of $11.10.

Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).

Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.

Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via grace@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.

Accessibility: At COY we aim to ensure our community and events are inclusive and accessible while alongside upholding the needs and responsibilities of our business and the businesses of our collaborating facilitators. Should you be in a time of financial challenge and unable to pay the full ticket price comfortably, please reach out to grace@centreofyou.com.au

Ticketing T&Cs: We get it, life happens, therefore we will gladly refund you up until 24hrs before the event start time. After that, we have a strict no refund/no transfer to future events policy. We kindly ask that you respect our policy.

If you are no longer able to attend and wish to pay forward your ticket to someone within the community, be in touch via grace@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.
