Energy In Motion: An Ecstatic Dance & Cacao Journey
Welcome to "Energy In Motion," a transformational event where ecstatic dance, cacao and emotional release converge to create an unforgettable experience. This is more than an event; it's a journey of self-discovery and expression, offering a blend of personal growth, community connection, and joyous celebration.
Emotion is energy in motion and this event is designed to facilitate emotional processing with an undercurrent of bliss. It's about inner exploration and embodied expression, all wrapped up in a lively, party-like atmosphere. Personal development can be fun, and we're here to prove it.
JANUARY THEME: LIGHT
We are all made of light.
Light, energy, spirit…. there are many ways that we can interpret the light.
While there is polarity and duality in everything (and this is something we’ll be exploring in our Spiritual Compass series) let us spend this evening exploring the light within us and around us all.
Meeting in the softness, the airey, subtle realms. Journeying with presence and awareness. Letting yourself be bathed in light and love as we transform through movement, play and the pleasure of being fully present in your body.
SPIRITUAL COMPASS
This event is the first of a 4-part series exploring polarities, which includes the themes light, dark, feminine and masculine.
Life is full of polarities, where we play on a spectrum between the two extremes.
Let us explore each end of the spectrum, some of the core energies that permeate through our existence here on earth. Let us bathe in light and explore the darkness. Get acquainted with the masculine and feminine energies that reside within all.
Dance and transform through the energies of these polarities. Using our Spiritual Compass as a transformational tool.

About your hosts:
Co-Host: Patty McDonald - @ pattymac.truth
Patty is passionate about helping people open their hearts and find bliss in the full spectrum of the human experience. Chakaruna means "Bridge Person" in the Quechua language - this journey is here to provide a bridge for you into new ways of connecting with your self, with each other and with the world around you.
An experienced leader and coach, he recently doubled down on music as an even purer vehicle to deliver transformation, and spent a few weeks in Guatemala dancing with and learning from some of the world's best organic music producers such as Mose, Scott Nice, ATYYA and Melbourne's own Temple Step Project. He also was humbled to learn about Cacao plant magic whilst in Guatemala and is honoured to be holding a space for Cacao and Ecstatic Dance to be shared with our community.
Host: Shahna Sarpi - @shahnasarpi
It was love at first dance, when Shahna stepped onto an ecstatic dance dance-floor. She saw the immense power in embodied movement and authentic expression, coming home to hear body and her self and feeling the liberation that comes from allowing the energy to move through her. Since that time, she has interwoven these lessons and practices into what she does personally, but also professionally.
Now, as a Somatic Healing Expert, Shahna uses embodiment practices, somatic exercises and other healing tools and modalities to help people step into their era of freedom, fullest self expression and radiance.
Guest DJ: Julie Jones - @juliejones_dj
Julie Jones is a rising Italian-Eritrean artist whose music fuses percussion and deep beats with ancestral and ethnic soundscapes. She quickly garnered attention by showcasing her skills at notable events like Esoteric Festival and various venues across Melbourne and other states. Her dedication to music drives her to constantly seek out the perfect tracks for her sets, aiming to transmit beautiful, unique energy and create a fulfilling experience on the dance floor.
Over the years, Julie has refined and evolved her sound into something distinct, honoring her Eritrean roots while incorporating rich, groovy bass lines and powerful tribal loops. Julie's ultimate aspiration is to take her audience on a mystical journey to her homeland in Africa, inviting them to experience the essence of her cultural roots through her music’s immersive power.
Guest Facilitators: Quintessence
Quintessence connects a constellation of three unique channels that together serve the collective remembering of sound as a conduit for deep alignment, on a bodily and planetary level. Their songs are intended to be shared and carried by those that resonate with them and offered as medicine for the times.
Powerful trio, Vicki (@lala_witika), Angela (@andjeladjakovic) & Anna-Maria (@coyote.sparkle), will be sharing the magic and medicine of song, vocal activation and sound.
Things to note:
Ticket cost is $50.00 if purchasing at the door on the night of event.
Personal responsibility: Please make an assessment on whether you are feeling stable and resourced enough to explore the practices on offer in this event.
Centre of You has plenty of bolsters, blankets, and cushions for you to get cosy with. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothes to enable deep breathing and sitting/laying upon the floor with ease. A journal and an eye mask is recommended as are any familiar personal items that will aid you in feeling grounded (crystal, teddy, scarf, etc).
Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 6:15pm - 6:30pm. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 6:45pm. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.
Driving: Know Centre of You is on Chapel St and ample time to find a car spot is best to be factored into your plans. Park direct on Chapel St (spots unmetered after 5pm) or in Anchor Place, the open-air parking lot in the side street that runs opposite Centre of You (unmetered after 4pm).
Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).
Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.
Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair-accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via grace@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.
Accessibility: At COY we aim to ensure our community and events are inclusive and accessible while upholding the needs and responsibilities of our business and partnering facilitators. Should you be in a time of financial challenge and unable to pay the full ticket price comfortably, please be in contact via grace@centreofyou.com.au. Together we will find a way.
Ticketing T&Cs: We get it, life happens, therefore we will gladly refund you up until 24hrs before the event start time. After that, we have a strict no refund/no transfer to future events policy.
