Humans have evolved to be interdependent. Our bodies actually need others to survive, to physically down regulate, and to feel alive. Our nervous system developed to interface and connect with our parents, which is how we learn how to soothe ourselves. The past few years have contributed to anxiety and loss of the resource of live community.
In this 3 week course, we will explore the evolution of our nervous system, learn to better identify spaces of calm and learn to co-regulate as a community, which is so important to our wellbeing. We will explore how we can use this information to heal together as a community and absorb the benefits of embodied presence together.
Week 1 - Understanding Your Nervous System.
In this class, we will explore a map of your nervous system so we are able to identify the various states that we navigate on a daily basis. This map will be a tool to create more clarity on which state you are in, so you are better able to identify when you are down regulated and present. We will explore this from a polyvagal perspective and empower you with a deeper understanding of yourself.
Week 2 - Glimmers and Simmers Maps.
In this class, we will look at the various triggers that can bring us into dysregulated states and the embodied resources that can help us find our way back. We will uncover quick methods to bring us back into ourselves and practice ways of hanging out there.
Week 3 - Mapping Regulating Resources.
This map is meant to help people understand what types of interactions with self or others can help to bring us out of states of overwhelm, collapse or activation. In this session, we will also explore the connection between the heart and the face, and how to hold space for one another from the place of the heart.
