Music Is Medicine - Ceremonial Shamanic Drum Song & Chacapa Crafting Circle.

About This Event:

The art of drumming is finally making its way into the health and wellness revolution. Over the past decade research involving the neurobiological underpinnings of drumming has seen tremendous growth. Numerous studies have shown that all types of drumming can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and enhance immunity. Research on group drumming shows evidence that this modality can be used to reduce blood pressure and cortisol levels, and provide relief from chronic pain conditions.

The Shamanic Drum is a remarkable spiritual technology that enables us to connect with our true nature, the elements, the great spirit & the heart of the Earth. It has been used throughout time & across many cultures and traditions to align with the spirit realms & harness the healing power of natural sound vibrations. The Witches Drum would help attain altered states of consciousness, converse with the dead, communicate with the gods, receive higher guidance, call upon the healing spirit and receive visions of the future. With the help of a rattle or chacapa, we can summon support from the spirit realm, calling upon our benevolent allies, guides, guardians, protectors and ancestors.

The Chacapa is a handheld bunch of dried leaves (traditionally palm fronds) bundled together and used in shamanic healing practices as both a rhythm and healing instrument. It creates a soothing and hypnotic natural sound when shaken. In healing ceremonies, the chacapa is rubbed and rattled over or near a patient’s body to brush out or transmute negative energies. It is also used to call upon spirit and to keep rhythm in icaros, which are healing medicine chants.

What To Expect:

Together we will embark on a Shamanic Drum Song Circle Journey of Remembrance and Reclamation. Held in a ceremonial sanctuary, we will breathe, receive, sing, share, learn & let in the Medicine of Music. You will ritually craft your very own instrument of sacred sound, healing & transformation. Using local plant materials we will craft our own chacapa's to add to your sacred musical instruments and spiritual tool kit and support your personal healing practice. We will replenish our soul light in the infinite power of the creative healing spirit, connect with our ancestors, guides, and allies and embody our personal and collective intentions. You will connect with your inner resources and guidance through a shamanic drum journey, and are invited to marinate in the beauty and bounty of these shamanic wisdom teachings. This circle is a space to share, learn, sing and receive the medicine of sacred songs, whilst being nourished by the simple power of engaging in prayerfulness, presence and gratitude.
