Of Mermaids and Mermen - Open to the Divine Feminine Flow Within.

In ancient myths and tales all over the world, mermaids are known to be archetypal symbols of love and passionate expression. This embodiment of the divine feminine that flows with beauty has the power to seduce lips, sink ships and stir hearts. It has been both revered and misunderstood, which may mirror back to us how our own deep and vulnerable truths can sometimes intimidate us.

But do we really want to let that fear block the flow of inspiration, emotion and creativity that moves within us all?

About the experience:

Join us for a night of diving deep into our inner waters, as we open our hearts up to connection and magic. When we begin to get in touch with our sensuous selves, we become more receptive to the poetic beauty that whispers and weaves around us. We have wondrous oceans within us all to explore. Let us be heard and held by the luscious medicine of the sea.

A note from a MerMan (Patty): “As a man, for so many years I chased the feminine externally - looking for the girl that would “complete me”. Only when I started truly honouring the feminine flow, softness & grace inside myself, did my outer world begin to reflect that newfound state of wholeness and abundance - with relationships, creative expression, and overall emotional well-being.”

What to expect:

Glide in and land in the Mermaid Cove, and let your various senses overflow with waves of beauty. We will gather together in circle to share Cacao, intentions and receive guidance from the Mermaid oracles. You will then be guided through an embodied exploration of accessing your creative flow, and tapping into your divine feminine birthrights of receptivity, creativity and compassion. Whatever pearls of truth emerge can be brought back to the shoreline for a powerful water ritual that will anchor us back into love, self-expression and sensuous appreciation for life.

About your facilitators:

Emina Ashman - @eminaashman

Emina is a poet, performer and Lomi-lomi bodyworker based in Naarm. For her, art is a channel for ritual and for romancing with life. Her words lend to perspectives on love, beauty and spirituality. She interweaves and draws upon her background in creative-writing, connection to Lemuria and a deep reverence for crystals. Her work ranges from spoken word features at open-mic nights, to co-created performance art pieces at conscious wellbeing festivals. She has enjoyed many collaborations with music producers, sound healers and embodiment practitioners.

Patty McDonald @pattymac.truth

Fresh from the jungles of Peru and Guatemala, Patty is honoured to be empowering humans to live their best lives, in harmony with nature. After years in the corporate arena as an entrepreneur, accountant and executive, he began to wake up to the reality that life can be so much more than we are told. Through a spiritual journey that's unfolded over more than a decade, and has led to him living in 7 different countries, Patty has explored the far reaches of our human experience. Profound experiences with plant medicine, 10-day silent meditation, tantra, cold water immersion, breathwork and philosophical study, have helped him cultivate a deep curiosity for how to optimise our lives, alongside an ever-growing sense of faith and gratitude for the magic of life all around us.

We are so excited to collaborate and hold space as a couple through this community offering.

Things to note:

Centre of You has plenty of bolsters, blankets, and cushions for you to get cosy with. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothes to enable deep breathing and sitting/laying upon the floor with ease. A journal is recommended as are any familiar personal items that will aid you in feeling grounded (crystal, teddy, scarf, etc).

You will be invited to sit/lay upon the floor so loose clothing that enables easeful, light movement and deep breathing will serve you most supportively. There are chairs available should you need or desire one.

Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 5:45pm - 6:00pm. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 6:15pm. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.

Driving: Know Centre of You is on Chapel St and ample time to find a car spot is best to be factored into your plans. Park direct on Chapel St (spots unmetered after 5pm) or in Anchor Place, the open-air parking lot in the side street that runs opposite Centre of You (unmetered after 4pm).

Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).

Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.

Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via grace@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.

Accessibility: At COY we aim to ensure our community and events are inclusive and accessible while alongside upholding the needs and responsibilities of our business.
