About the experience:
Get ready to get deeper in mind, body and heart, with this special 3 hr workshop for yogis of all levels.
Partner Yoga poses and flows are awesome ways to get more out of your personal relationship with stretching and strengthening your body, mind and heart as we support one another to reach new places, together.
This long-form closed pairing practice delivers so many of the benefits of a yoga practice with the added element of the joy of connection (aka co-regulation) that comes from sharing touch, trust and care with another, seeing and being really seen.
This session of partner work, gentle acrobatics and shared exploration of the senses supports a healthy exploration of communication, compassion, boundaries, trust, and connection to self and each other.
Applying to life as well as Yoga, with a partner (romantic, platonic, hypnotic, exotic and/or any other consensual coupling!) we can:
stretch further,
be stronger / hold poses for longer,
expand our experiences of empathy, compassion, communication, boundaries, and trust through a healthy and supported exploration of connection to self and other, and
do great things together that we just can't on our own!
WHO is this for?
For pairs of people (romantic or platonic partners) who want to work together to deepen our individual connections to self and each other.
Prior yoga experience is NOT required, though a working knowledge of your body and it's limits is. Please get in touch if you are at all concerned about any injuries or restrictions.
If you are a single-player that would like to attend (but are not coming with a partner to work with), please check out our other event - PlayDate: Partner Yoga for Singles.
What to expect:
A social and playful class for pairs of people to enjoy partner stretches and strengthening work, communication prompts to support internal and external awareness and trust, creative open play, and a luscious Thai Yoga massage sequence to luxuriate in both giving and receiving.
Expect to approach familiar poses in new ways and explore the joy of shared support and achievement by working in partnership, and to find new shapes you can make and share with another body.
We will work with breathing techniques and physical poses in sequences that support opening the body, heart and mind while strengthening the energetic lines of connection and communication within ourselves and our pair partners.
Learn Thai Yoga massage sequence to share.
As with all movement work, it is imperative that you set and respect the boundaries of yourself and others. Working with ample, open and honest communication between partners, and with the facilitator is not only encouraged, but required.
Fresh fruit and tea picnic to finish.
HOW can I add to this offering?

About the facilitator:
I'm Miriam and I'm a kids and family and partner yoga teacher. I got really bored in yoga classes awhile ago, so I decided to get "Not So Serious" about it all and started Not So Serious Yoga and running my kids classes for grown ups as Play Dates. I also offer Partner Yoga for Pairs, a still not serious, but beautifully sensitive workshop that explores partner yoga at a slower pace. As the producer of Event Horizon events, I create events that cultivate expansion, love, prosperity, belonging and playfulness for myself and others.

Things to note:
Centre of You has plenty of bolsters, blankets, and cushions for you to get cosy with. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothes to enable deep breathing and sitting/laying upon the floor with ease. Chairs are available. A journal is recommended as are any familiar personal items that will aid you in feeling grounded (crystal, teddy, scarf, etc).
Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 3:45pm - 4:00pm. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 4:15pm. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.
Driving: Centre of You is located upon Chapel Street and while you may get lucky with an untimed spot, (try High Street) predominantly 1 and 2 hour parking is available (unmetered from 5pm). So you can fully settle into the practice, we suggest you avoid the need to move your car or risk a fine and park at the CARe multilevel carpark (8-14 King Street Prahran), a 140-metre walk from COY.
Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).
Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.
Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via grace@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.
Accessibility: At COY we aim to ensure our community and events are inclusive and accessible while alongside upholding the needs and responsibilities of our business and the businesses of our collaborating facilitators. Should you be in a time of financial challenge and unable to pay the full ticket price comfortably, please reach out to grace@centreofyou.com.au
Ticketing T&Cs: We get it, life happens, therefore we will gladly refund you up until 24hrs before the event start time. After that, we have a strict no refund/no transfer to future events policy.
If you are no longer able to attend and wish to pay forward your ticket to someone within the community, be in touch via grace@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.
